International cooperation
Newcomers in Europe face in general the same challenges in building up a new life.
Therefore we also have an international orientation. As a European organization we can support newcomers across borders and we can learn (vice versa) from other European NGO’s.
Besides this we are an organization of newcomers. That means that we have a line with the countries (often outside of Europe) where we (who is involved with Dar al Yasmin) come from.
Community building and social work
In the field of social work and community building we are cooperating with several organizations in different European countries, such as Romania, Latvia, Spain, Italia, Germany, Poland and the Czech republic.
The projects we work on together are focussing on social work and youth work. They are meant for professional social workers to extend their knowledge and experiences and to share ideas.
Most of these projects are a combination of social experiences, creativity and fun.
We are also preparing projects on partnerships with vocational training organisations. All projects are helped by Erasmus+ funding.
We love to cooperate with international partners, because we are working on common aims but often from a different perspective and with different ideas.
Education and exchange
During the time of the asylum procedure, it is generally good to stay active. People learn the language of the country where they are staying.
But during this time, it is also possible to learn other subjects and disciplines that will help you build a good future. Think about practical subjects, for example computers. Or exploratory subjects (especially if you are young): what do you like and find interesting? What would you like to go further in? Can you get your bearings in that?
What is unique about Masters Education is that many of the teachers are also newcomers. There are so many people with talents among newcomers. It also helps them when they can transfer these talents to others as teachers and thus take their first professional steps in their new society.
Intercultural connections
A diverse society gives the opportunity to learn from each other. It enriches our experience. It challanges us in our ideas.
The same is true for international exchange of ideas, for cooperation in projects. And more: just to be involved with each other.
Dar al Yasmin maintains strong international relationships, simply because the vast majority of our volunteers are newcomers who are rooted in another culture.
As an organization we are also internationally oriented (also outside of Europe) in the activities we exploid, such as Beautiful People.
